The Best Ways to Look Up Phone Numbers
What would society do without the telephone? Phones keep us connected over short and long distances. Most people have a land line and a cell phone, if not more than one. If you want to look up phone numbers, you've got several options. There are many reasons why you might want to do this. Maybe you're looking for an old friend, or you're seeking a phone number you've lost accidentally. Or maybe you are looking to contact a particular business. No matter why you need to know a phone number, you will find there are plenty of choices when it comes to tracking them down.
First, of course, is the phone book. Today's phone books are bigger than ever due to the growing population and contain lots of helpful information. In addition to residential and business numbers, you can find the Yellow Pages and even helpful maps of different areas. Many phone books also feature lists of area codes and zip codes. The problem is that many people these days request their phone number not be listed in the phone book. This makes it harder to find them, but it is certainly not impossible.
If the phone book isn't an option, the Internet may be your best bet. Often you can find a listed phone number simply by entering the name and location of who you're looking for in a search engine box like Google or Yahoo. There are plenty of free directories online that can help, too. Sites like the White Pages and AnyWho let you search for phone numbers free of charge. The problem is that like the phone book, you're only going to find listed numbers.
If you want to look up phone numbers that are unlisted, you will probably need to pay for a professional search service. These services charge an approximate amount between $20 and $50 to perform a professional quality search. You simply give them as much information as you have, and they do the rest. Often you get other information along with your phone number results. For example, you might find their address, criminal record, marital status, place of employment and more. Whether or not this is a good idea honestly depends on who you're searching for and why. If you've got an ethical reason for finding someone, these paid searches can be the most effective way to locate them.
